Bao Bao Issey Miyake Fall 2014

I can’t believe that I haven’t featured this geometric sculptural bag before, especially given my self-proclaimed bag addict label. Bao Bao has been around since 2000, and is a “shapes made by chance” creation of Issey Miyake. It has since won the hearts of many with its wide array of colors and designs which range from totes, clutch purses, messenger bags, to shoulder bags and backpacks.

What caught my eye to this bag was its unique capability to transform its shape. Constructed of many PVC triangles attached over a layer of mesh fabric, the structure may lie completely flat or conform to its contents as a three-dimensional geometric sculpture.

In addition to new shades and colors, Fall/Winter 2014 collection also introduces a new series, “Lucent Shogun” which is inspired by modern Tokyo. The series combines vibrant colors with prints and patterns, to resemble the robot Gundam, and traditional Japanese flowers.

And most of all, the Shogun Cannonball evening bag, the newest creation, which is by far my favorite, will make the perfect quirky conversational piece at any party or event!
