Hello 2014!

I’ve never been a resolutions kind of girl. I have all these good intentions and they are out of the door before the end of the first week. I always thought making resolutions was kind of silly. Like the the change of a year date is the only way to start with making changes. If 2013 has taught me anything, it’s that life just simply doesn’t work that way.

I was going to do one of those 2013 looking back posts in the last days of the year. While I was making them (don’t worry, you haven’t missed them!), I realised it’s good to look back at a year, but I much rather look forward to next year. To tomorrow even.

While I was going through the stacks of photos from this past year I couldn’t help but be amazed how different everything was a year ago. I guess in a way that’s always the case, but now that I’ve started to take more photos and journal more, it’s highlighted even more. Last year I was new to a job, very new to a different country, no idea if I would still have a job in six months time. And now, I have friends, a permanent job, a life in that same country. Even though that too has its challenges and it’s still not the easiest road, these last days of the year made me realise that it’s really what you make of it.

So I choose to start every day new. I will leave the past really where it belongs and I will only take the lessons it taught me. I will focus more on my creative dreams and I will not set them aside any more like I have been the past few months. I want to travel, explore the UK, go to Scandinavia, visit book towns, and get lost in stories. And I will let my dreams guide to me where I want to go. I hope you will do the same and start every day of 2014 like it’s the first day of a new year – because it is. Happy new year!
