Leave it to Clare Waight Keller at Chloé and Phoebe Philo at Céline to make controversial shoes 'the thing' of the season.
When it comes to the talking about the most controversial shoes of the season, the mule is quite possibly competing for the first place, together with the birkenstocks; both by way of Keller and Philo.
While I'm not yet convinced by the birkenstock, albeit this season's aesthetically improved versions, I am definitely pro-mule. But as I have figured out from experience, the mule doesn't please the eyes of many.
While I have yet to discover what exactly makes conventionally ugly shoes appealing, the variety of mules triggering my brain cells into outfit planning mode keeps growing.
The second thing I have yet to discover is how do you walk in these things?
