Renaissance Art & Brooches

The other day I borrowed a book from my best friend on the history of Italian renaissance art. It's actually an old school textbook of hers, but the photographs are incredible and I thought it would make for a bit of nice reading before bed or during a coffee break. While flipping through the book I started thinking about all the brooches I currently have stored away in my jewelry box and how they too are pieces of art; tiny pieces, but still art. Thus, the combination of both was essential. It boggles my mind how the brain works. The two things are not related in the slightest but apparently Italian renaissance art makes me reflect about the contents of my jewelry box.

Brooches are definitely seen as "old fashioned" but I've seen quite a few of my favourite bloggers sporting them on their winter apparel and I think it looks amazing. I'm definitely going to give my brooch collection a little air once in a while. They're too gorgeous to sit within their velvety confines for so long.

All photos of art are from "History of Italian Renaissance Art" by Frederick Hartt and David G. Wilkins (7th Ed).
