My Flea Market Bag!

I love Flea Markets and Spring is coming soon so I wanted to create a bag that I could take with me on my junking expeditions! The Canvas Market Bag is perfect for just such an outing!

(I did not have one on hand and actually used the discontinued MR instead) The construction steps would still be the same. Let me show you how you can take this Market Bag from plain to WOW!!!

This is a no sew project but if you are a good seamstress by all means create yours with a sewing machine! I used Fabri-Tac adhesive for this project. I first measured my bag and cut fabric with about an inch extra on each side to I could fold that over and create a nice clean edge. I applied my fabric to my bag. I had an old fabric vintage ruler that I used on the outside of my bag to make it look more vintage. Now for the fun part...adding embellishments! And no one does embellishments better than MAYA ROAD!

Using two pieces of canvas I glued them wrong sides together (again with Fabri-Tac) to create a "pocket". My idea was to create something that could hold eyeglasses, pencils, a phone, money/receipts for all my purchases, etc. within or outside of my flea market bag! To embellish I used Metal Love Hear Charms glued to a key and Metal Hanger to cascade on the side of my "pocket" bag.

The second "pocket" I again took two pieces of canvas and glued just the edges (leaving the top free). This time I used Maya Road's Chocolate Plum Vintage Tape Measure Trim to trim the top of the pocket. Inside a metal oval I added the Feathered Friend Resin Embellishment in Slate. And again from a chain some more of those lovely Love Heart Charms on some jump rings. Vintage goodies from my stash were used as well.

I am very pleased with how this all came together. Maya Road offers so many wonderful and unique embellishments that take any plain canvas into something spectacular! I hope I have inspired you to create a bag for yourself. It's quick and easy and with Maya Road embellishments...it's going to be gorgeous! Thanks for stopping by and happy creating!
