Never say Never

This post is basically about me being a big old hypocrite. This time last year the thought of wearing trainers for anything other than exercise filled me with horror. Now don’t get me wrong… When people started wearing them as footwear of choice in a chic way, I loved them – on them! For me personally, I thought they would make me look like a complete frump. I have been obsessed with heels for a long, long time!

I used to commute everyday into London for work and would witness suited office ladies change from their heels into their gym trainers, still wearing their office getup. it kind of reminded me of that.

Coat // Boden*
Trainers // Nike air force
White jeans // ASOS
Bag // Mulberry
Kids Co-ord // H&M (old)
Kids Trainers // Nike Revolution

I started to sway to the flat way with skater slip ons. I didn’t feel like they stumped my disproportionately short legs too much as they sit quite low down on the foot; whereas trainers come up higher just under the ankle (over analyser).

With the trainer trend in full force and me still snubbing it, I went along to a John Lewis shoot. At the bottom of my edit rail was a pair of Nike Pegasus. I ignored them for most of the shoot, then I decided to try them on. My sweet lord above, they melted into my feet and I instantly started to change my views.

The final game changer was when we went to Disneyland Paris. I had a flat pair of boots and after walking and walking for 2 days, my feet were blistered and killing! I wasn’t sure how on earth I was going to manage the journey home. We visited the nearby shipping village Val d’Europe and both me and Eva got ourselves a brand spanking new pair of Nikes. That was that, they haven’t left my feet since. Comfort rules at the end of the day!

I am not that keen on the overly patterned or colourful pairs. I have a strong preference to black or white. I feel the neutral pairs make less of a contrast between smart or trend clothing & sportswear shoes.

Yep…this is a whole post dedicated to me changing my mind about wearing trainers. I like to think there is some sort of moral to the story here. Basically… Don’t be a stubborn little bitch. You don’t know what you like until you step out of your comfort zone and try it. That’s for all aspects of life, not just fashion choices.
