Taking The Mystery Out Of Menopause

Did you know that September is Menopause Awareness Month? A great time to have a discussion on the latest information and products pertaining to this milestone that affects all women.

For me, menopause has been a difficult topic to approach. I know it is inevitable and want to be current on what to expect, but I just don't have much to go on. It hasn't helped that the women I am close to don't really like to talk about it either. I have some friends that when it comes to menopause, all they want to share is their incessant complaining about their hot flashes and night sweats. Not very appealing. Other friends, when pressed, have offered just a few vague nuggets on how they've successfully gone through their own perimenopause. Even when I have tried to be brave and bring it up with my mom and older sister, looking for hereditary advice, they've only minimally (and uncomfortably) answered my inquiries. Luckily for me, and my quest, I was recently introduced to a web site and products to help navigate the mysterious "M."

Estroven.com is a great place to learn about menopause: what to expect, how to manage it, and how to find support from other women. It also provides a way to ask questions and receive answers from a variety of medical professionals. Of course, talking to my Primary Care Physician has been a good option. But sometimes I'm looking for immediate information and don't want to wait for her to get back to me in a week or so. This web site is perfect for times like that. Although I am 53, I still thought I wasn't even perimenopausal because I haven't yet experienced those lovely most common symptoms of night sweats and hot flashes. I have also been relying on a lack of menstrual periods to be a sign that menopause was achieved. It takes twelve months of no periods to be considered a menopause graduate. While I have experienced skipping one, two, even up to three period free months in a row, just when I get all excited that they were stopping, a period would suddenly appear and I have to start my counting all over again. Bleah. What I learned from the web site is that menopause is a lot more than just those obvious signs. Things that I was attributing to simply getting older, were actually symptoms for menopause. Things like forgetfulness, moodiness, headaches, joint pain, weight gain, and skin, hair and eye changes. I guess I am further along than I thought.

Managing menopause really is nothing more than doing what I am already used to: eating well (fruits and vegetables, proteins, whole grains), exercising daily (both cardio and strength training), and body awareness (physical exams, mammograms, thyroid checks, body scans). However, I know that sometimes, symptoms can get in the way of general good health practices which is the source of my uneasiness towards menopause. But I don't have to worry any more. Estroven is the only company to have a full line of products that safely and effectively provide multi-symptom menopause relief. Each product contains naturally-sourced ingredients that go beyond reducing hot flashes and night sweats to relieve the most bothersome menopause symptoms. What caught my attention was the natural part. All of these products are made from pure, naturally occurring ingredients--no synthetics. That is important to me in maintaining my healthy lifestyle.

Picture by ourkidsmom.com It is reassuring to know that Extroven has lots of products to help me as different symptoms come and go during my personal menopause journey. Currently, my most bothersome "mini" menopause symptom at this point seems to be a few extra pounds. Estroven Weight Management would be a good supplement to start with. While this is not a weight loss or diet product, it is proven to help ease the weight gaining issues that come with menopause. Natural ingredients include Proprietary Synetrim CQ which balances serotonin to help safely manage weight along with clinically proven soy isoflavones and black cohosh to help reduce hot flashes and night sweats. Regularly taking one (1) capsule in the morning AND one (1) capsule in the evening with food, has shown noticeable benefits in 8-10 weeks.
Being adequately informed always eases my approach to new things. So while I may not be able to find willing conversationalists on the topic of menopause, at least now I know where to go to find great information and reliable products. Mystery solved.
