It’s In Our Nature

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”

— John Wooden

Ever have those weeks where you come out at the end completely drained? Come last Friday night, I had absolutely no more energy left for anything. No conversation. No eye contact.

I took this as a sign to recharge and spent the whole of Saturday in stillness. I visited the crystal store because my eye needed to see beautiful, ancient things, drank multiple cups of tea and ate orange Baumkuchen cake, rewrote dreams and goals in my journal and even created an amazing new essential oil blend I’m in love with (it contains a heart of rosemary, cedar and lavender. What’s most incredible though, is that while citrus notes are known to be volatile – as in, the first to flit away, this orange base really endures). It was a day spent entirely (until Bacchanalia later that evening – fantastic service) in my own company and it felt g-l-o-r-i-o-u-s.

Sunday night rolls around and I began to revisit the event(s) of the week that got me down. It wasn’t even A Thing. But this time, instead of thinking about the shoulda, coulda, wouldas, I just prayed and mediated and it has made all the difference. Sometimes you can talk to almost everyone about your feelings – your lover, your friends, your family – and those are wonderful. But there’s also nothing like talking to the One who knows your thoughts even before you think them; who knows every emotion even if you can’t articulate it for yourself. With everything now put back into perspective, my heart feels so much lighter, ready to take on the new week.

Remember, you are still here…
