Life Lately

We celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary this weekend! Our anniversary adventures usually consist of the same thing every year: walking around outside in areas that we don't frequent often (because of the kids), drinking lots of expensive coffee, eating at an asian restaurant, and ice-cream. This year's anniversary was spent in Stillwater, a fun little town that's Main Street is lined with antique shops. It also sits next to the river, which makes for a great spot to sit watch boats. We hung out there for most of the day, after scarfing our faces at a mongolian grill lunch buffet, of course. When the sun went down and the shops closed, we still weren't hungry enough to eat dinner. So, we decided to stop at home and turn off the sprinkler that had accidentally been running for more than a couple of hours (whoops), grab a sweater, and head over to Lake Minnetonka for some yummy drinks and appetizers. Baby Boy and I enjoyed a delicious virgin strawberry daiquiri... It was a special day spent with my best friend, reminiscing on how much we've been through these last 5 years of marriage and what we have to look forward to in the future with our growing family.

The rest of our weekend was spent trying out a new donut place, running errands with the kids, and hitting up a fun Chick-Fil-A event celebrating their arrival to Minnesota this fall (FINALLY!!!!!!). All I have to say is that Chick-Fil-A's marketing team is pretty genius. They had my kids singing about cows and "eating more chicken" for the rest of the weekend.

Our Sunday evening ended up being much more eventful than we anticipated. Josiah was being his usual, rowdy toddler-self and ended up splitting his head open after taking a fall into the wall. It was definitely the biggest bloody episode we've had yet with him. I knew right away that it would require stitches, so I dropped him and Joseph off at the ER to get it checked out. Lucia and I ran errands at Target, and I nervously awaited the news from Joseph on how Josiah was doing.
I was expecting to hear a horrible story of him crying out for me while getting stitches from scary doctors and having to be held down by his father. Instead, when I picked them up from the ER, Joseph said that it was really fun and that Josiah was cracking jokes with the nurse about being sewn up by a tailor (he had ironically just watched Mickey Mouse's Brave Little Tailor the night before).

So, anyone have advice for surviving life with a toddler boy?
