AW14 TREND REPORT: NEW SEASON FLORALS

We believe that florals are an all year round kinda thaaaaannng. No matter how hard we try we just cannot resist it, and love to embrace this trend. This season Motel has brought a whole new outlook on our favourite botanic print.

Floral designs return year after year, and we cannot wait to show you the hot new way we have styled the popular print!

Reworked each year, the floral trend has been in the fashion world for decades, and truly is the trend that NEVER goes out of fashion. In the swinging 60s it was all about daisies, meadow poppies and luscious roses being used to set the inner hippy free. The floral pattern got bolder in the 70s with more colour blocking and geometry inspired patterns.

Fast forward to the 90s and we’re all rummaging through thrift stores for grungy floral to team with a pair of beat up Dr. Martens!

This year it was no surprise that the catwalks saw the infamous spring/summer trend return but completely revamped for the darker seasons and we were loving designers new take on florals. London Fashion Week brought a boldness combined with playful romance using oversized coats and elongated silhouettes. Burberry used edgy brit Cara Delevingne to showcase floaty floral prints, swirling hand-painted watercolours and silk scarves. Designers ‘Dolce & Gabbana’ and Alexander McQueen both took to the dark with their florals’ with a dramatic fairy tale romance take on the popular print.

This season Motel has a dark take on florals with our Jagged Rose and Silhouette Floral Prints. Contrasting bright blooms with moody background our new prints are an uplifting addition to the AW wardrobe.

Spoilt for choice, these hot new prints come in a range of styles, that can be worked in so many stylish ways.

The real gem of the pack is the printed Kimono jacket, a seasonal essential that is great for an evening cover-up or a lightweight option for layering making it a must have seasonal staple for AW14.
