L'Oreal Color Riche - Hidden Gems

Today I have a little drugstore gem *pun intended* for you. I recently inherited L'Oreal - Hidden Gems from a friend who does not like textured polishes. Being the liquid sand lover that I am, I willingly offered it a new home where it will be well-loved.

L'Oreal - Hidden Gems is a sheer black base stuffed with intense teal shimmer and small silver hex glitter. In the bottle this polish has an intense purple duochrome effect (see the shade photo below), but this does not translate onto the nail. No matter what lighting or what angle, I could not make out the purple shimmer. I had high hopes for this one, but on the nails it looks mostly black with a bit of teal shimmer.

For this manicure I applied two coats of Hidden Gems. It was a bit sheer on the first coat, but covered perfectly with a thicker second coat. As with most textured nail polishes, this one dried fast and wore well for 4 days.

The textured finish on this nail polish is quite pronounced. It does feel like medium grit sand paper, so it is not as finely textured as the Zoya Pixie Dusts for example, but not as coarse as the first OPI Liquid Sands, either.

While the amazing duochrome effect in the bottle did not translate onto the nails and the teal shimmer is not as prominent as I had hoped, L'Oreal Hidden Gems still is a great textured nail polish. It applies nicely, dries fast and wears well - two thumbs up! Now this nail polish range only has to become available in Germany, too. Hear me, L'Oreal!?
