MAC Red Red Red & Miley Cyrus collections

Today I have swatches of 2 lipsticks from recent M·A·C collections, i.e. Red, Red, Red and Miley Cyrus. I totally blame my friend Andreia of 10tubes for my growing lipstick addiction! Long story short, I came to love M·A·C about at the same time as the release of the Venomous Villains Collection back in 2010. I remember being all excited about this collection!

By the way, I recently repurchased the Prep Prime lip (base lèvres). I love wearing it underneath lipsticks to help them last a bit longer.

5-ALARM is part of M·A·C Red, Red, Red collection. It is a described as a soft orange-red with a "lustre" finish. Typically lustre formula gives sheer coverage, with a sheen. 5-alarm is actually a muted red lipstick with warm undertones. It has a semi-opaque coverage. You have to apply 2 coats to get a beautiful even color. If you're not really confident to wear red lipsticks in your everyday life, I think 5-alarm is perfect choice to start an addiction. It's very easy to wear, it's doesn't look too fierce on the lips, it's just muted enough and it has a very nice finish with a luminous sheen that makes you overall face fresher. It's my go-to red lipstick at the moment. I just love it so much! I lasted 4 hours on me, resisted my morning espresso shot and a couple glasses of water but went away with my lunch. I didn't notice it was drying nor moisturizing.

M·A·C 5-Alarm: 2 swipes, Miley Cyrus: 1 swipe.

Viva Glam Miley Cyrus is described as a hot pink with an "amplified finish” (i.e., gives full, opaque coverage without being drying). It's a very bright fuchsia with cool undertones. I usually prefer warm undertones in my lipsticks but I have to admit I just love this one and I think it doesn't clash with my skintone, which is all good! It's my first "amplified" lipstick and wow it's so pigmented, I'm impressed. It's also super creamy but still stay in place nicely and is easy to apply. I don't even use a lip liner when I wear it. I lasted about 6 hours on me and left a pink stain behind. It's slightly hydrating.
