Enjoying a bit of Spring, I think!

Liza here.

Reporting from Pain et Vin on a Thursday at 3:35!

How is that possible? That means you’re not at NOLA?

Shouldn’t you be slaving away in the kitchen making the damn brioche???

NOPE.

I have a new schedule thanks to Chef Jose!

Things change a lot around here.

I guess that’s expected, right?

I mean, we just celebrated our three month stint at Nola. 3 months of Argentine restaurant survival.

Just when things start to become a pattern, you get a curveball, or 5.

Like my latest- Spring allergies that have oh so kindly moved to my ears! They took me to the hospital Saturday night after service. Now I’m jacked up on loads of antibiotics, and other pills so I don’t ‘react badly’ to the antibiotics, and I still can’t hear from my left ear, which makes me feel totally off balance and disabled. I don’t like any of this.

Most curveballs I can handle.

Drugged out zombie Liza I can’t do.

I’ll take the bread bitch 14 hour days back por favor.

What else?

IT’S NOT ALL BAD NEWS.

Today is October 23. Which means I get to wake up in my new apartment in 9 days.

9 DAYS!!

I don’t think I’ve wanted something more in my entire life.

It’s as if I’m going on a never ending vacation.

Yesterday Ticol and I stopped by to check on the workers ‘progress’ while in the neighborhood.

We left with smiles, thank god!!

Still tons missing- kitchen cabinetry & countertop, bathroom furniture, utility sink in the wash room, a massive clean.

Oh yes, and the second bedroom is literally filled with trash.

But the contractor seemed hopeful claiming next week they’ll be done with todo.

I believe it when I see it, boludo, but I’m gonna believe in you because I can’t have it any other way or I will go totally mad.

So now I prepare myself for the move.

Packing, cleaning, getting rid of things I haven’t used in years, and a bit of shopping!

We found a couch and bed and will take a few pieces from our current apartment. Still in the market for a large mirror, some rugs, chairs and patio furniture.

I wont buy them until we’re in the new space, just a bit more patience, chica!

I will admit, allergies, lies and all…. Buenos Aires is so beautiful this time of year.

The moment where the jacarandas are about to bloom and the humidity hasn’t taken over.

And yoga started back up!

That’s beyond thrilling. Back to two classes a week, finding my balance one breath at a time.

So yea, I guess you could say I’m enjoying Spring.

Trying to appreciate the excitement and the sparse moments of stillness.

What about vacation? Do I still get that?

How does it work? Do we close NOLA? Or do we take the gamble and have people ‘do the work for us’? That’s scary.

But so is not going on vacation.

We’re thinking if it happens… we’ll rent a bungalow somewhere in the jungle where there are no chickens. Maybe North Brazil? Or perhaps back to Central America where we met?

Making all these decisions… how do I know the right answer? I guess I wont until I just do it. Learn the hard way. The good way, from experience!

Opening a business has been one of the most rewarding challenges. And to think I’ve done it in Argentina, in another language and with my boyfriend.

Bring on the king bed, I deserve it!!
