We’re painting!

Aesthetically, the space…. I barely recognize it!

Why???

No more massive holes in the walls. Oh wait, we actually have walls!!

The space was just an empty box when we started, remember? We’ve had to add a kitchen bar 2 bathrooms. That’s a lot of breaking, building, installing, electricity, plumbing, gas, plastering, todo! And the dust….!

To prep for the painter Ticol and I swept the floors on Saturday. For 4 hours! I have a blood blister from the broom. :(

The amount of polvo (dust) was pure insanity.

We wrapped bandanas around our faces, wore sunglasses and were covered from head to toe in white. My poor Vans!

Maté and Zeppelin definitely helped out.

And even though it was a total bitch of a job, I had a really good moment towards the end.

It went something like…. Ticol and I both in the front salon mopping the floors (which I must admit is my LEAST favorite chore) and me feeling very grateful for the hard work that we’ve put into NOLA over the past year and a half . Look at what we’ve created, we’re doing something big. And even though I fucking hate cleaning floors, I’m probably going to clean these floors a thousand fucking times. Today is day 1 and I’m proud to clean these motha fuckin floors! So I cleaned those floors with a big ol smile on my face. Well, hidden under my bandana… (sorry for all the cursing, Dad.)

The neighbors are getting curious. What’s happening in there? What are y’all opening? Clothing store? Where you from, gringa?

If only they followed my blog, then they’d know everything!

This makes me so happy.

That big black wall is a chalkboard where we will display the different craft beers on tap, wine selection, house cocktails and a bit more.

We still have to install the bar top which will go above that red wall. The bar top is wood with an iron border, the same that will go in the open kitchen. We’ve had them custom made from some guys at Mercado de las Pulgas. (huge antique market in our area, it’s magical!)

So that’s my lil update!
