All green

The summer days are short here and by 19:00 Tokyo’s sky is pitch black and the city finally cools down. Well, if you call 29°C at 22h00 cool then yes, it cools down. After a day of studying, I needed some fresh air and decided to go for a long evening stroll through my neighbourhood – Higashinakano. With the refreshing breeze and the feeling of happiness, I weaved through the tiny streets dodging speeding cyclists, trying to recognise the kanji on people’s letterboxes and being completely consumed by my thoughts, dreams and plans for the next few weeks.

Returning home, I opted for a little indulgence to unwind further: a bowl of matcha ice cream. I’m already feeling a little guilty all whilst toying with the idea of having another scoop. This does not bode well for the bikini I’ll be wearing in 10 days time but a woman wants what she wants. I’m actually not a big fan of ice cream but when it comes to matcha, saying no isn’t really an option. Two more of my favourites: sencha and a copy of Elle à table with it’s pretty green typography make for rather enjoyable accompaniments on this terribly hot evening.
