LACMA in October

A few snaps from LACMA. I hadn’t been here before (to my knowledge), so it was a welcome visit. I was pleasantly surprised by their collection, though I probably should have known.

Chris Burden’s Urban Light

Tony Smith’s Smoke

Frank Stella’s Getty Tomb, Jo Baer’s Grey Side-Bar: Green Line, Cy Twombly’s Roman Notes #3

Mark Rothko’s White Center, Jackson Pollock’s Black and White Number 20

Andy Warhol’s Black and White Disaster

Clyfford Still’s PH-143 (1955 H) at the end of the hall. So freaking beautiful.

Henri Matisse’s La Gerbe

From Variations: Conversations in and Around Abstract Painting

Robert Irwin’s Miracle Mile

Richard Serra’s Band

Chris Burden’s Metropolis II

Bruce Nauman’s For Beginners

Michael Heizer’s Levitated Mass

We also got to see two great special exhibits, Haunted Screens: German Cinema in the 1920s and James Turrell’s Breathing Light, which you should definitely go see if you’re in town.
