D-I-Why-Not?

The newly relaunched Style.com and Vogue.com both claim logomania is making a comeback; to that I respond, when did it ever leave?

Branding is inescapable, and with the nineties (or redux thereof) constantly flitting in and out of vogue, it would seem that this ‘trend’, in all its hyper-consumerist glory, has recently become a fixture in fashion to the point that it’s arguably as much a sartorial staple as white t-shirts and good denim.

On second thought, perhaps not. But that doesn’t make it any less fun to walk around like a human billboard, or the 630-odd ad pages in Vogue‘s September issue, so let’s embrace consumerism with a fun (hypothetical, for now) DIY.

All you’ll need is a denim jacket (thrifted if you’re certain you’ll mess it up), embroidered patches (see: Etsy), a needle and thread. Arrange your patches as you’d like them, and sew them on*. Voila! C’est fini. Done. The end. Badabing badaboom.

As for styling your new jacket? Adopt the sassy girl emoji attitude (you know the one) because that’s all that matters. You just spent an hour customising a denim jacket, do you really care what anyone thinks about the rest of your outfit?

* If you need something comprehensive-ish, there’s

a YouTube video that sums it up, albeit to a painful soundtrack, so I’d recommend muting the video.

Denim jacket, Acne (similar at ASOS or Topman).

Patches (L-R): dahliasoleil, EastCoastPatchShack, StellaPatch, Iggy Azalea (set of two), MadeinHans.
