Runway Report: Louis Vuitton Fall 2015

Marking his one year behind the helm at Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière showed a futuristic vision for FW15 that was as fresh as it was understated, and as wearable as it was covetable. Ribbed knitwear separates with flounced sleeves and hemlines and futuristic cross-chest cut-outs paired with chain belts and sporty ankle boots. Modern suiting was re-envisioned with the leisurely wink of a drawstring waist. Lace dresses bore sporty side-panels and zippers, and leather skirts and pants with exposed zippers and buckle details paired with basics.

The puffed sleeve made an appearance, as did a tentacle jellyfish print that had Eastern vibes. Metallic knits and prints paired alongside sleek puffer coats, and the bags were true eye-catchers– with monogrammed holographic glass vanity trunks and voluminous sheepskin and leopard print fur clutches to match the enviable selection of coordinating outerwear. Set against the sweeping stage of Frank Gehry’s Foundation Louis Vuittion, it was one of the most shoppable collections we’ve seen all fashion month, with clear street style influence and wearability that showed Ghesquière’s confidence settling into his new role.
