DIY: Camouflage ugly planters!

Flower pots are not always the most aesthetic looking things. Often flower pots/planters for the bigger plants are heavy duty (obviously) and made of plastic. Needless to say... Not the prettiest things out there.

I saw the hint for the look on a blog somewhere but unfortunately I didn't take the link down, I can't take credit for this look, even if I wanted. ;)

The basic idea is pretty simple. All you need is some paper, scissors, tape and a pretty ribbon. Using a paper bag is an easier solution, that way you can lift the flower pot with the cover if needed. You can also use gift wrapping paper you have held onto too long or even an old news paper, whatever suits your style.

Originally I wanted to use a paper bag but unfortunately I didn't have any left, so I opted out for a gift wrapping paper. The paper was crumbled to begin with but I wanted it to look ever wrinklier, so I crumbled it some more. I folded the bottom and top rim to make it a bit more sturdier.

I then measured the paper strip around the planter and used some tape to hold the paper more secure. To finish it off, I added a wrinkly pink ribbon to make the black and white design a bit more feminine for my "girly" room. ;)

Easy, simple and basically costs nothing! Quite an affordable way to change the look of a "not so pretty" flower pot. Might now suit everyone... But I love it!
