Recent Pretty Things.

It’s been so long!

We’ve been hibernating. Zero house projects have been attempted during this epically long winter, but lately we’ve been obsessively planning the garden. Raised veggie and herb beds, new trees, flowers, bushes, flower boxes on the deck rails, a rain barrel– all along with painting the shed and staining the deck. AMBITION!! The sign of foolish new homeowners who want to do ALL THE THINGS at once! Surely it’ll warm up soon-ish. I’ll keep you posted.

But yes. I realized that while not-so-patiently awaiting spring I’ve managed to collect a few neat vintage things that should be shared. Like:

A vintage Elac Miracord 770h turntable (circa ’70-’74?) purchased from our local record store for $99, and the speaker/receiver combo found on eBay for $35. I love that they match perfectly. This thing has become the heart of the house– I didn’t know what I was missing! It made me realize how vital it is to have a radio in the living room (usually I fuss with Spotify), and record collecting has become our new hobby together because it doesn’t take any time, which we’re definitely short on these days. Purchase record listen to record together = awesome.

A Roto-Photo, which we plan to fill with more old black and white family photos. This is my mom at age 20 opening a Christmas present.

A Brownie Starflash, which looks quite handsome with my Hawkeye!

An Osterizer Pulse Matic! IN AVOCADO. Ahhh! A gift from our friends Nick and Meghan. I’m positive they have some kind of preternatural ability to sense exactly what we’ll love, because Jeremy’s been looking at this exact one on eBay. And now it’s ours! It was a wedding gift to Meghan’s parents. She said it wasn’t used much but sat on the counter for quite a while. I like knowing the history of things, even if it’s just a blender. Our kitchen is starting to collect a fair bit of chrome. OH THE POLISHING.

A Mirro Cookie Press thrifted for $6. I think my favorite part is the doggy disc, although the camel is interesting– I don’t know when I’ll ever need to make camel cookies, but when I do I’ll be covered. Everything is here except, sadly, the doughnut-making attachment. Jeremy was very discouraged about this.

Stay tuned for: Jeremy’s first woodworking project (very exciting) and outside things, if spring ever happens. It looks iffy at this point.

Also! I’m having a mini-sale in the shop through March, so check it out if you’re so inclined:

(Plus any of the vintage sewing patterns are 2 for $8, 3 for $12. Convo me for a custom listing!)
