Holiday Cocktails!

The silly season is here good people, this is the time of year when food and drink is an essential part of parties and celebrations. I’ve gone for the easy cocktails with ingredients you’re likely to have at home or that you can easily pick up at the supermarket. They’re easy to make without being a bartender or turning your kitchen into a bar with diffrent machines and other fancies.

The main ingredient is Champagne or dry sparkling white wine. Cheers everyone, have a merry chritmas and a very happy new year!

Sorbet and Champagne Cocktail

1 teaspoon sorbet (like passion fruit or raspberry)
Chilled Champagne or Prosecco

Scoop sorbet into a champagne glas, fill with chilled Champagne or Prosecco, stir! Easy as…

Blood Orange and Champagne Cocktail

3 tablespoons freshly squeezed or frosen blood-orange juice
Chilled Champagne

Pour 3 tablespoons blood-orange juice into a champagne glas. Fill with the chilled Champagne and serve!

Grapefruit white wine sparkler

Makes 6 servings
1 cup gin
4 teaspoons sugar
1/4 cup fresh grapefruit juice
1 bottle dry sparkling white wine or Champagne
Ice
Lemon slices

In a bowl or large pitcher, combine gin and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves (about a minute). Add grapefruit juice and the wine, stir to combine. To serve, fill 6 glasses with ice, pour over the wine mix and add lemon slices.

Ginger sparkler

Makes 8 servings
2 teaspoons finely grated peeled fresh ginger
1/2 cup sugar
1 bottle dry sparkling white wine or Champagne

Set a fine-mesh sieve over a small bowl, set aside. In a small saucepan, boil ginger and sugar with 1/4 cup water until syrupy (about 2 minutes). Pour the syrup through the sieve.
Pour 1 tablespoon syrup into each glass and top with the chilled Champagne, stir and then serve!
The syrup will keep in the fridge for a week.

New years eve sparkler

Makes about 5-6 servings
1 cup of fresh or frozen thawed cranberries
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup vodka
1 bottle dry sparkling white wine or Champagne

Puree cranberries, sugar and vodka in a blender until smooth (if not cold, put in fridge to chill). Fill a glas with 3 tablespoons cranberry-vodka mixture and about 1/2 cup bubbly per glass. For the ombre effect, tilt glas and gently pour Champagne down one side into the glass. Serve.
