2013 Resolutions

When you think of resolutions as a to-do list, they’re a bit daunting. It’s better to think of them as goals you would like to complete this year, rather than tasks.

Here’s a few that could do some good for everyone!

  • No phones at dinner with company. There’s a neat game you could play when out for eats. Everyone puts their phone in the middle of the table and the first one to reach for it, pays for dessert or the appetizer. If at home, first one to reach for their phone does dishes!

  • Less text, more face time. Texting’s great, but actually hanging out with someone is so much better. None of that pesky deciphering whether that text was sarcasm or a joke. If you can’t physically see each other, there’s always Skype!
  • Be up to date with current events in your city, state, nation, or country. You’ll be able to form educated opinions of your own & have interesting topics at hand!
  • More DIY projects. There’s a lot of things that can be recycled via DIY projects. Pinterest is great for DIY crafts because they dedicate a whole section to it! (psst, we also have a pinterest!)
  • Buy less for self, more for others. I know, we did that for almost a month or more when buying gifts for the holidays, but didn’t it make you feel good inside?
  • Volunteer. Austin has a bunch of places where you can volunteer. For most of the more common places, like shelters, you have to fill out an application & they often have required time commitment (6 months). So, make sure you check that out before strolling down somewhere only to be turned away. Those places have to follow regulations, too!

  • Clean out the closet. Mostly to make way for new things, but someone out there will appreciate your donated goods. Who knows? Your donations could be what makes someone’s day!

Of course there’s always the self-improvement resolutions
(workout, eat healthier, haircare, etc),
but these only benefit yourself.

It’d be pretty nice if 2013 became the year of paying it forward.
