Pretty Serious Rooftop Soiree Collection

I know, I know, it’s been a while. Lots going on outside the world of blogging for me lately, but I did swatch these around Christmas (as my nail length shows – they’re now pretty short) but have only just found some time to write a post for them! The polishes in this post are the offerings from Pretty Serious Cosmetics for the festive season of 2014, the Rooftop Soiree collection (fun fact: I mistype ‘roof’ as ‘foof’ every time).

First up is ‘Cocktail Bar’, a teal green jelly with green and blue glitters. I’ve layered one coat over ‘Under Dunders’ on all fingers except the ring finger which has two coats alone, so you can see that it builds up pretty well by itself. Top coat on all.

Next is ‘Daphne After Dark’, a variation on Daphne’s Birthday Party with multicoloured holographic glitters in an inky charcoal base, but a more understated version. The ring finger has one coat over black, and the rest have three coats alone. Top coat on all.

‘Glitz and Glamour’ is a stunning silver and gold flake that results in a champagne shade. This might be my favourite, so I’m annoyed that my swatches aren’t better for this one. You can see the versatility of a polish like this though as it works great layered, built up alone or as a gradient over a base colour.

‘Invitation Only’ is Pretty Serious Cosmetics’ first holo! It’s a metallic grey with shifting pink and green particles as well as micro holo. I didn’t know what to expect from this one to be honest. It didn’t wow me in the bottle, beyond being a grey at least. But on the nail it’s bloody fantastic. The holo is stunning, but it’s also great in the shade and the formula is a absolute effing dream.

‘Moments Til Midnight’ is a dark blue jelly packed full of golden glitter shapes. This one was a little hard to manage due to the thicker jelly base and the large amount of glitter. It does build up quickly though. this is two coats plus top coat.

‘Red Carpet Treatment’ is a festive red jelly with multi sized red hex glitter, plus silver & purple/blue iridescent mini hex. The index and little finger have one coat of Evie’s First Christmas, the middle has a gradient over Evie’s First Christmas and the ring finger has two coats alone, all with a top coat.

The thing I love most about this collection is that it’s Christmassy without feeling obvious or boring; it’s somehow festive but not to the point of feeling like you’re at Monroe’s house for Christmas Eve (which would be flipping awesome, just a different kind of awesome to Rooftop Soiree). It’s definitely a wear all year collection.
