My Emmy 2014 Predictions

I love an awards show. No really, I do. Another event, and another day off work!

My boss knows, don’t worry! *waves*

Here are my predictions for the big categories; and well, there are a couple which I’m really only guessing by the amount of buzz/hype as I haven’t watched Game of Thrones, Veep, or Breaking Bad… so let’s just say they are a non-informed guess.

DRAMA SERIES

Can we just acknowledge it HAS to be True Detective? Cinematic television. Breaking Bad may be over; but again – up against True Detective, come on. Really.

COMEDY SERIES

I’m always curious as to some of the shows that end up in this category. My vote is for Orange is the new Black but I don’t think I’ve ever laughed out loud watching it. Maybe a snort at a couple of lines (PORNSTACHE!) but.. no. Though I’ll be okay with Girls winning because well.. massive turnaround in my appreciation of the show.

LEAD ACTOR in a DRAMA

Matthew McConaughey must get this. He and Woody were amazing in this but Matthew’s commitment to that role; from the very first episode I forgot who he was on the larger scale, and he was RUST COHLE. Gotta be. I’ll be eye rolling if they give it to Bryan Cranston (all respect to Bryan..)

LEAD ACTRESS in a DRAMA

See, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE Kerry Washington to win but I think Juliana Margulies may win? No. Put me down for Olivia Pope. I’m gonna stick with it!

LEAD ACTOR in a COMEDY

I will LOSE it if Jim Parsons wins. Please, let this go to someone unexpected like Louis CK? No, I think that might be more far fetched. Let’s say William H Macy for this.

LEAD ACTRESS in a COMEDY

You know? This one is tricky; edgy and in your face Lena Dunham or the more expected Julia Louis Dreyfus? I’m really torn on this one. Alright. Put me down for Lena.

SUPPORTING ACTOR in a DRAMA

Will this be a Breaking Bad category? I just don’t know… For this one, I’ll go for Mandy Patinkin because it was a patchy season but he was wonderful this season on Homeland.

SUPPORTING ACTRESS in a DRAMA

This category I have no bloody idea. My blind guess for this one would be Lena Headey.

SUPPORTING ACTOR in a COMEDY

Oh I would love love love straight man Andre Braugher to win this! He is such a hoot in Brooklyn Nine-Nine!

SUPPORTING ACTRESS in a COMEDY

Another category where I don’t really feel like the rightful winner is in a comedy? But surely this has to go to Red, aka Kate Mulgrew for Orange is the New Black. What a pivotal character!

For the other categories that I definitely haven’t seen all of the nominees/nominations;

BEST MINISERIES

LUTHER? Because Idris Elba needs to be recognised! I haven’t watched the full series yet… and I LOVE LOVE the White Queen but it never seemed to get the crowd/recognition I thought it deserved. And I never watch historical romance!

TELEVISION MOVIE

I will have a FIT, I will scream at the TV if Sherlock: His Last Vow doesn’t get this. Come on. COME ON.

(And you know Benedict himself should win this…) Just saying.
