Rimmel PROVOCALIPS review & swatches

Procrastination on the Provocalips; the struggle was real.

Every beauty blogger goes through this, and for me who is a quasi beauty blogger who merely dabbles, I was provided with a range of new lip products from Rimmel then found myself panicking that I wasn’t going to provide Temptalia level lip swatches. One day when I get the great camera (and know how to use it) or find the amazing way to pose where I don’t feel like a goofball, or where I don’t look like I’m angry. Or obnoxious. Its quite the balance!

So I’ve prepared trusty arm swatches, and I’ll show you some instagram photos I took for a couple of shades just so you don’t have to suffer through 8 lip swatches just because.. I’m just not wanting to show something I’m less than happy with.

From bottom to top;

Dare to Pink
Skinny Dipping
Make Your Move
I’ll Call You
Little Minx
Kiss Me You Fool
Play With Fire
Kiss Fatale

Things you should know –

  • These are a liquid lipstick. Meaning yes they come in a glossy tube, but they have the opacity of a full coverage lipstick. This is not a lipgloss you put on top of a lipstick. In one swipe.. BAM. Full power, fully loaded colour here. These are dual ended; and for best application once you apply the super rich colour; allow your lips a chance to air dry a tad. A few seconds. Don’t rub your lips together; just allow the colour to sink in. The second end is a clear gloss (it won’t stay clear after a single application) which you will slide over your lips for a semi matte finish. It won’t keep its gloss but it does provide more moisture than other liquid lipsticks have provided before.
  • You will need to make sure you have well taken care of lips; no casual dry spots here peeps. Because once you swipe; it needs a smooth surface. No bumpies. Having said that; if you have that taken care of – you will have the glossy movie star mouth that doesn’t happen all the time with a standard lipstick finish.
I’ve included arm swatches from when I tried to wipe off the swatches.. Many times over. I mean, swatches from when I first received the products were there 2-3 days after (and yes I shower daily!) So, once you apply, its may fade a little from the inside of your lip area but these are the most long wearing product I’ve tried!
  • After a few hours, even after lunch, I only noticed minor patchiness on the inner corner of my lips. Only a light reapplication would be needed. (See photo below as an example)
  • Do not apply this lipstick sans mirror. You need it. Otherwise, you may be channelling Batman’s the Joker.. I mean, good for Halloween, sure!
  • The colour range is good for everyone; though the lightest pink is just not for me at all. The nude/brown shades which I’m not usually fond of are actually flattering on me, and have the right level of warmth that they aren’t corpsey mouth like!
  • The photos below are the the level of BAM you get here – and truly, the first red I’ve felt like an absolute Goddess in red !

My oh I just happen to be wearing a bright red lip at work for no reason look, with this shade being called Kiss Me You Fool

My fake lash look with ‘Skinny Dipping’ – my perfect MLBB shade! (My lips but better)

Note this picture here shows after a couple of showers, and scrubbing with a makeup wipe… the lingering colour!

My recommendation: Especially for the darker shades which we don’t want moving around our mouth; for the pure fact that we want to have a Taylor Swift red pout and it lives up to its long lasting claim, YES. Buy them. Oh! And for the win; no scent to these. (Its why I couldn’t handle the Apocalips)

Please note: once I submitted my Kiss List (my LAWD it was hard to narrow down… and its still just not quite perfect) but I was sent these for review purposes only. No pressure at all; integrity always.
