Lauren & Lee’s Fun Texas Ranch Horseback-Riding E-session

Lauren and Lee consider themselves “country people” so photographer Andy Sams captured the lovebirds beautifully in their natural element — on a Texas ranch with their pup. Throw in some horseback riding and strolls on tractor paths and field and they got themselves a sweet and fun little engagement session that truly reflected their relationship.

Aren’t they adorable? Their love story is just as cute and I will let the lovely Lauren tell you about it herself:

Our love story actually starts about 3 weeks before we met. I was hanging out with one of my childhood girlfriends who I hadn’t seen in awhile. One of my guy friends was hitting on her, and I told her to just tell him “I have a boyfriend”. It turns out, she DID have a boyfriend. She showed me a picture and I said, “Wow, he’s cute…does he have a brother?”. She said, “Actually, he does”. We all met up a few weeks later at a country dance hall, and it was an instant connection. Like I said, we were finishing each others sentences and it was the most natural feeling I’d ever had when meeting someone new. We danced the night away and towards the end of the night, I knew there was something special about this guy. I actually thought to myself, ‘I could marry this guy’. We said our goodbyes at the end of the night, after getting my number. We dated long distance for the first year of our relationship, since he worked in south Texas, but would come home every weekend. We moved in together after only 7 months of dating. He decided to get his old job back in Austin, so he was here full-time. And the rest is history…

I like to think of us as unique, in a sense that we have been dating for 3 years and we’ve never had a “real fight”. It seems these days that people get married for all the wrong reasons, but I like to think of us as a couple who is truly matched perfectly. Many say that opposites attract, however, they would be wrong in our case. Lee and I are almost exactly the same…we like the same foods, sports teams, movies, etc. In fact, the very first night we met, we were actually finishing each others sentences.

Lee bought me a boxer puppy for our 11 month anniversary and he (Brody) absolutely consumes our lives. We love to take him on walks, let him play in watering-holes, and just let him run free. Of course we had to include him in our engagement photos, he’s like a real son to me. We consider ourselves “country people”, so that is what led us to our unique engagement session.

The ranch belongs to a friend of ours (my family ranch was too far away), however we knew we did not want to do a typical downtown, cityscape photo-session (just doesn’t fit our personalities). Lee grew up in the country and around horses, and although I didn’t get to ride very often, I was raised as a true country girl. We both love to hunt, fish, and enjoy the outdoors.

We do have a more elegant theme for our wedding, but you can be sure, I will be wearing my cowboy boots underneath my $2000 lace dress (which my mom isn’t too happy about, but hey, it’s me!). All the groomsmen and fathers will be wearing their boots as well. There will be plenty of dancing which will bring me back to the night I met Lee and remind me of the time I first thought, ‘I’m going to marry this guy’.

Thanks Andy for sending your always-fun and fab images my way and congratulations Lauren and Lee! Happy wedding planning.
