Now you all know that I love to DIY everything, and I mean everything. I feel most comfortable with a glue gun or paintbrush, but creating a hairstyle is no different than your favorite DIY! “Style It Yourself” is the new mantra from Suave Professionals, and I’ve partnered with them to share how easy it is to get salon-quality looks at home. Don’t settle for a messy bun, hun…Style It Yourself is the new Do It Yourself!
Have you ever wondered how girls manage to get those plump, shapely braids? Even when your hair is a bit on the thinner side, that desirable bigger-is-better look can be easily achieved with the one-two punch of some great volumizing products and good old fashioned DIY ingenuity. Case in point, this PHAT braided ponytail look we created with the help of Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Products and, yep…that’s no fancy salon tool, kids- it’s a toothbrush.

To create: Apply Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Weightless Blow Dry Spray to damp hair. This spray is heat activated to give hair volume and body that last for up to 24 hours. Dry and style hair with a round brush. Apply a small amount of Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Soufflé Mousse to dry hair. Blow dry with cool air to provide added texture to the final braid. Gather hair into a ponytail holder. Wrap a section of hair around ponytail holder to disguise elastic. Pin with two bobby pins. Braid hair tightly to best use length. Secure end loosely with a hair elastic. Deconstruct the braid by tugging sections of the braid and teasing with a toothbrush for added volume. Twist the ends of the braid and remove elastic. Apply Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Plump Hold Hairspray to the ends to seal them and provide long-lasting hold.
