Umar London

It is cold in NYC but I am about to heat things up by introducing you to the Umar London label. The brand is from the mind of Mr. Jan who obtained an Associates, Bachelors, Masters and MPhil degrees from the London College of Fashion. It is also interesting to note that Umar spent the past five years doing research on Craftsmanship and its effect on an entrepreneur’s competitive advantage.

In addition to his educational pursuits Umar also worked at Alexander McQueen, Christopher Matthews, Aquascutum and others. Jan began designing shoes in 2011 for a prominent South Korean label and his design was worn by Miranda Kerr and other Korean sophisticates. After completing his educational requirements Umar London was launched in July of this year.

All of the leather and artisans used for Umar London are selectively sourced and 98% of each shoe is made by hand, a machine only comes into play when the sole/heel needs to be fused together. The insole is made out of lambskin instead of pig hide for enhanced comfort and durability. Looking at Jan’s heels you can definitely see black is back and I cannot wait to see his special Christmas capsule collection.
