Arrests Made in Trinity Assault Case

Pedro Carillo (20) and Veronica Marquez (27), both of Hartford, were arrested in connection to the March 4, 2012 assault on Christopher Kenney.

Hartford police say that information required for arrest warrants became available last week and the warrants were issued this morning.

Marquez is being held on a $250,000 judge set bond and will be arraigned on Friday; Carillo has been in custody of the Department of Corrections on separate charges since September of last year.

These arrests seem to contradict many of the stories that had spread around campus since the incident, including the theory posed as fact, in public, by a former Trinity College employee whose position had involved being privy to more information than the average staff member. Many of those rumors, stories, or theories had asserted that Trinity students had either committed or arranged for the assault.

Carillo, who has six previous arrests in Hartford, is being charged with second degree assault and conspiracy/assault. At least one of his previous arrests involves assault. Marquez, who has nine previous arrests in Hartford, faces the same charges.

No information is immediately available about possible motives.
