Spiced Bourbon eggnog

Tis the season friends! For classic eggnog. BOURBON eggnog. Next to the fire, curled up with a blanket, xmas tunes cranking. OR, in my case with this eggnog, great friends over for some grub eating and white elephant gift exchanging, xmas tunes cranking. Good times friends, good times.

I actually didn’t make this boozy deliciousness, Jerdy did. (Insert shock shock horror horror here). I tried like crazy this week to make some great Christmasy goodies, but it was a total fail. First, I tried making pine honey syrup for cocktails with pine needles from my Christmas tree. Know what that tasted like? Honey. It tasted like weird murky honey. Eiiiiiiiwwwwwwww. Then, I attempted a whiskey chai that I was SO pumped about I took the photos before I tasted the drink. I know, I know, I can just hear Tom Colicchio in my head now…… “taste EVERYTHING!” Sorry Tom. But it was chai tea, and orange, and almond milk, and WHISKEY! Somehow though……. a total bitter fail of a drink. Then, I got determined. I needed something to work. I went out with shears in hand and cut some fresh tips off of a pine tree on the backside of our yard. I attempted ANOTHER pine simple syrup with fresh pine and just a touch of gin. Ugh. It was just……… weird.

So, I threw my hands in the air and let Jerdy take over. Pretty funny sight actually. KISS (the band) apron on and eggnog stuck in his beard, he slaved over that shit. Awesome little moments when I fall in love with him just a bit more. Of course, this stuff is killer. How can it not be when it’s made of literally sugar spice and everything nice?!

Tomorrow starts a new week. Christmas week. I’ll let the fails of this week go away with it and enjoy one of my favorite weeks of the year.
