Paloma and Alberto’s wedding in a ranch with a beautiful lake

Today Paloma and Alberto share one of the most important days of their lives with us. Their faces say it all… It was such a happy day!

We love that you contact us to share your wedding on our blog and today Paloma is going to tell us about hers…

A romantic wedding that they wanted to share with their guests. Do you want to know what Paloma and Alberto give their 200 guests?

Here is her interview…

Where was the ceremony held?

We got married in the Real Basilica of the Escorial Monastery, a very beautiful place.

During the ceremony we decided to sit next to our godfathers atop the altar and instead of facing our backs to them, we sat next to them in order to experience the ceremony with them.

In the end we got to enjoy a beautiful ceremony in which many of our friends and family participated in, and which started and ended with two beautiful lectures written by two of our best friends which were very moving to all of us.

Where did you get ready for the big event?

I got ready at my parents’ house, where I grew up. It was very special for me to sleep in my old room again, and waking up on the morning of the wedding to my parents, grandmother, my brother and my sister-in-law. Together, we experienced many unique moments on that day.

How did you feel when you saw yourself in your dress the day of the wedding?

I think that the word that best defines my emotional state in that moment is happy!! I got dressed with the help of my mother, my father and my aunt who got there just in time! The three of them along with one of my cousins had been to every fitting; we were wishing for so long that this moment would arrive that when we finished dressing me we all had a giant smile! I think that was the moment when we were really aware that everything we had been dreaming of during the past year was finally coming true.

How and where did you find your Rosa Clará dress?

Ever since the Rosa Clará 2014 collection came out I fell in love with the Madison gown, so when I started looking for my dress I went straight to the Velázquez store to try it on. It was the second dress I tried on and there were no more doubts! I did try on some more dresses but none of them made me as excited as the Madison did.

Does your dress have any alterations or did you choose to wear the original Rosa Clará gown?

Yes, we decided to change the lace on the waistline for an impressive rhinestone belt also by Rosa Clará.

What type of veil did you wear? Where is it from?

I always knew I wanted to wear a veil; in the end I chose a simple one also by Rosa Clará made out of silk tulle organza.

How did you accessorize your gown? (shoes, jewellery)

After much searching, I decided to go with a pair of Jimmy Choo sandals in silver-champagne colour. As for jewellery, I only wore my engagement ring, a pair of white gold earrings that were a gift from my maternal grandmother and my something borrowed was a stunning bracelet given to me by my paternal grandmother as an engagement present over sixty years ago.

I wore a simple silver thread comb that I bought in El Tocador de la Novia as a headdress.

What type of flowers did your bouquet have? To whom did you give it to?

The bouquet was made out of peonies, freesias and roses in pastel tones.

After the dinner I gave the bouquet to my grandmother; nobody was expecting it, especially not her, which is why it became one of the most emotional moments of the day.

I also gave away four smaller replicas of my bouquet, two of them to my cousins and to my sisters-in –law.

Where was the reception held?

The reception was held in Prados Moros Estate, in Guadarrama, a few minutes away from the Monastery. We fell in love with the estate as soon as we saw it. With the decorations, the lake and the dock it created the perfect dreamy environment on our wedding day. The catering was managed by Leal Maese and both them as well as the owners of the estate where very helpful from the beginning in order for everything to be as we had imagined it. We all were truly delighted.

Is there a special or fun moment you remember?

A special moment for me was when I entered the church, as my father walked me down the aisle he whispered that he was enjoying every second and also the smile on Alberto´s face at the foot of the altar waiting for me.

During the reception, my friends and cousins surprised me with a beautiful flamenco dance, which was very exciting; also during our dance my co-workers surprised us with a funny choreography that was the perfect start of the party!

As a wedding gift, we looked for something that made us feel indentified; in the end we decided to give away one of our favourite books, dedicating them personally, in a way where we could thank each and every one the guests for being with us on such a special day.

Any advice for future brides?

Besides the typical advice to enjoy the day because it goes by really fast? It’s true-enjoy every moment! And the most important is share with all the people that you love. Now, looking back, I remember every second about the most beautiful day in all of my life. I keep lots of beautiful memories; (with my father, my mother, doing handicrafts, telling my friends every development, with my best friend looking for espadrilles around Madrid, attending every fitting with my cousin and my aunt, dedicating over 200 books with Alberto…) That I will treasure forever.
