Fireworks and fun

Long weekends are the best weekends. Thursday afternoon Matt and I headed to Destin. We kicked off our weekend of American fun with a stop at our favorite Irish restaurant.

No matter how many times I am here, the amount of money hanging around this place still shocks me.

I could retire with the money hanging on the bar alone.

After stuffing our faces with some delicious food and beer, Matt and I headed to the beach to meet up with the rest of our Fourth of July group for a little sunset watching.

And no sunset watching is complete without a little selfie action.

One day we will learn how to take a decent picture but this weekend was not it.

Friday morning Matt and I were up bright and early for a little Fourth of July 5k through the sprinklers.

We followed the run with a little stair running and stretching on the balcony before heading down to the beach to stake our claim while the rest of the bunch woke up.

Carrying all this crap through the sand was a workout in itself. So I rewarded myself with a cold beverage in my new favorite coozie.

The next few hours were filled with paddle boarding:

And people watching:

These boys were the stars of the beach and I am pretty sure we will see them soon in the next boy band sensation.

After more hours in the sun than any Irish girl should have, we headed back to the condo to shower, eat some pulled pork and watch fireworks from the balcony:

Then we walked back to the beach to do something I have wanted to do ever since I first saw Tangled:

We had way too much fun lighting these.

All in all it was a pretty stellar Fourth of July.

Anyone else head to the beach this weekend?

Ever light flying Chinese lanterns?
