Haute in Holographics- Blumarine, Burberry & Jonathan Saunders

I had been into holographics at an early age (Pokemon cards, anyone? No? Just me?) and that definitely hasn't changed. Ever since I saw a photo of Cara Delevingne strutting her stuff in this holographic, lizard-like ensemble, I was hooked- again! I am transfixed by the glistening iridescent works of holographic art that we call fashion!

Cara is wearing Blumarine in the photos above. With spring break here and Cabo right around the corner (I am going in 2 days!), I can't help but fantasize about myself on the sandy beaches wearing this iridescent high-waisted two-piece suit. Even though this collection was showcased for Fall/Winter 2012, I think that this trend is just taking off (I am currently wearing Chanel nail polish in Peridot, the metallic golden-green shade)! Designer Anna Molinari and her fashion stylist, Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, used holographic pieces in an ultra-modern way- like futuristic punk rock.

Even Burberry Prorsum's Spring/Summer 2013 Collection showcased metallics and high-sheen fabrics. I love the holographic bodysuits and the unexpected sheen in the more structured pieces like the collared blouses and trenchcoats. The show was very cinematic- with a classic trench or cape over a glitzy corset.

Jonathan Sauders' Spring/Summer 2013 Collection also showcased my newly favorite trend! He incorporated holographics in a bad-ass bomber jacket and in this horizontally striped crop top and vertically striped pencil skirt. "This was the hardest collection I've ever done," Jonathan Saunders stated after the show. His inspiration was "a Michael Clark disco girl" with glossy lips, tousled hair... a wild child with a bit of art in her.
