Designer dreams: 15 of the most fashionable hotels in the world

Fashion and travel have always been tightly entwined (and not just because of expensive luggage). In celebration of London Fashion Week, take a look at our round-up of the world’s most stylish hotels and suites, designed by some of the greatest names in fashion.

Diane von Furstenburg suite at Claridges

The Diane von Furstenburg suite in Claridges is one of the most luxurious hotel suites in London. Naturally, it even has a grand piano in the corner.

Uxua Casas, Brazil

The Uxua Casas in Brazil are a very popular luxury holiday retreat and they were actually designed by fashion designer Wilbert Das, previously creative director of Diesel.

Dior Suite at the St Regis

The St Regis New York has a couple of fashionable options. First up is the The Dior Suite, complete with design details straight from the French atelier.

Tiffany Suite at the St Regis

If Dior isn’t your thing, how about The Tiffany Suite? That powder blue is instantly recogniseable and thanks to Audrey and her toast-snacking, the jewellery brand has earned its fashion stripes. Should you be Europe-bound, there’s also the no less impressive Bottega Veneta Suite or the Couture Suite at the St Regis Rome.

Hotel Petit Moulin

It’s a wonder that Christian Lacroix finds time to design, he’s so busy playing with cushions at an array of Parisian hotels. There’s Hotel Petit Moulin. as well as the Hotel Notre Dame and Hotel Belle Chasse. Take your pick.

Bulgari Resort Bali

The Bulgari Resort in Bali is the perfect example of a high-end fashion design brand becoming an all encompassing lifestyle brand, but it’s hard to argue with a view like that.

Eloise Suite at The Plaza

The Eloise Suite at The Plaza in New York has been designed by Betsey Johnson, one of fashion’s most playful characters. The pink and gold suite reflects that and it’s certainly not for those who like their hotel rooms calming and relaxing. This is a hotel suite for a fashionable adventure.

Armani hotel Milan

If you’d rather something a little more calming, check out (and into) on of the Armani hotels. With bases in Milan and Dubai, it’s a high-end option that’s full of grace and elegance. And quite a lot of beige.

La Maison Champs-Elysees

Belgian designer Martin Margiela was behind La Maison Champs-Elysees in Paris. It’s the perfect mix of minimal and playful, just like his clothing designs.

Tortuga Resort

The Tortuga Resort in The Dominican Republic has been designed by Oscar de la Renta who hails from Santo Domingo. Known for his ornate evening dresses and bridal gowns, the resort has a relaxed, paired-back vibe.

Schiaparelli Suite at the Mayfair Hotel

The Schiaparelli suite in London’s Mayfair hotel is the perfect base for a fashionable young thing. The Mayfair is the official hotel of London Fashion Week (despite not being all that close to Somerset House where all of the action is). Named after Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli, the suite is a bright and retro offering in an otherwise chic hotel.

Hotel Icon

Hotel Icon, Hong Kong is the work of popular Chinese designer Vivienne Tam.

Hotel Lungarno, Florence

Lungarno in Florence is owned by the Ferragamo family, offering a tribute to the late shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo. He designed for stars in the ’20s and the label and his legacy has remained popular ever since. There’s a shop in the hotel.

Round Hill Resort

All of the ocean-facing rooms at Round Hill resort in Jamaica were the work of all-American fashion legend, Ralph Lauren.

Schlosshotel Im Grunewald

The Schlosshotel in Berlin picked Karl Lagerfeld as their designer and it was a decision well made. He’s put his stamp on it without it feeling over the top. Make sure you keep an eye on the Hotel de Crillon, Paris which is reopening 2015 after a makeover from Lagerfeld.
