Glossybox Unboxing February 2014 – Valentine’s (box no. 27)

Hi everyone,

This month’s box got here last friday (the 22nd, over a week after Valentine’s Day but it was still Valentine’s Day themed. More Love themed if you ask me, but that’s fine, I was a bit sad (as you can see) that the old box is back, I really loved the “new” January box, but also the “postersize” information leaflet is gone and back is the old card (which is better if you ask me, but the Glossymag was even better still).

Also new is my way of filming these unboxings, so let me know whether you like it or not. At the end of the video you see me applying the makeup I’m wearing in the video.

The products in this month’s box are:

- Anatomicals – Puffy the Eyebag Slayer (3 x 6g patches) (full size = €7,25)
I’m currently (whilst typing this) wearing one of the patches. They feel very slippery and rubbery, it’s not one of those paper/cotton type sticky patches, it really feels like a piece of cilicone that you stick under your eyes. I put a mask on the rest of my face that’s why I’m slightly red and very shiny.

Now to tell you the truth I should have taken a before and after picture, but I think this just rehydrates the skin because the next morning nothing was left of the awake look (even though I’d just awaken ) the night before some fine lines seemed less, but it wasn’t a huge difference. I really think you shouldn’t expect huge things from products like this, they’re just here to be a quick fix and to help you feel relaxed which will make you look better on a whole.

- Casa D’Argane – Marrakech Medina Savon Noir Liquide (100 ml = €27,00)
This shower liquid is really different from what I’m used to, it’s thick and has no real foam when you apply it on your skin when you’re in the shower. I do feel like it cleanses and hydrates and I do really love the scent, I feel like I’m in an actual hammam because of the fragrance that’s in my bathroom (even though I’ve never been to an actual hammam, I imagine it to smell this way). My skin is clean and after the shower I do still put on a lotion because my skin is very dry and it’s winter, but I think a normal skin wouldn’t need extra lotion. A really nice product, but is it worth €27,-? I honestly don’t think so.

- BM Beauty – Mineral Blush in Velvet Dawn (1 gr sample) 4 gram full size = €9,60)
BM Beauty, also known as Beautyful Movements Cosmetics, and is co-founded by Kimberly Wyatt (ex Pussycat Doll). This brand is cruelty free. Also all the products have the stamp of approval from the BUAV and PETA. It’s also free from bismuth oxychloride, parabens, nano particles and synthetic dyes and fragrances. Their mineral foundations contain zinc oxide which is a natural anti-inflammatory which is great for spot prone skin. Beautiful Movements Cosmetics make up is lightweight and allows your skin to breathe. I’ve gotten another blusher from them in one of my first ever Glossyboxes, the March 2012 box.
Now here is the truth, I love the idea behind the brand and all the great ingredients and everything, but both blushers disappear within minutes of applying, which is really disappointing, natural makeup doesn’t have to have no staying power at all. Now I’ve only tried the blushers so I can’t tell you anything about the rest of the products, but the blushers are a huge disappointment.

- Puma – Sync Parfum Woman (20 ml full size = €10,95)
I’ve gotten this before and I did actually try it for longer to see if it grows on me (simply because some scents do), but I really don’t like the fruity sweet notes. It has exotic papaya, currant and mandarin that make up the top notes of this fragrance for women. Once you have applied a fragrance to your skin, it starts to evaporate, which is why its scent changes over time. Top notes are the quickest to evaporate from the perfume, grabbing your attention when you first spray the fragrance. After this the heart of your fragrance appears and this is a touch of blooming lotus and mandarin tree flower, underlined by a pure aquatic accent, which is supposed to awaken the soft feminine heart in the fragrance. But that is still to sweet for my taste, the base notes are creamy sandalwood and sensual ambery notes, cocooned in velvety white peach. These ingredients are slow to evaporate and last the longest on your skin. The peach keeps it very sweet, I would say this suits a young female, which is I believe their tartget audience for this parfum.

- GKHair – Balancing Shampoo (sample) (300 ml full size = €14,60)
Also known as Global Keratine, this hair taming system balencing shampoo sounds really amazing. I just hope it doesn’t kill my curls. Juvexin is the only protein compound scientifically proven to protect and restore hair back to it’s youthful state. It works on all hair types and leaves hair protected, more manageable, soft, shiny, smooth and frizz-free for up to 5 months.
If you look at the shampoo on their website it states:
Gently soothes and balances the scalp and hair of normal to oily hair types. Hair and scalp is soothed and nourished with plant extracts. SLS, SLES and Sodium Chloride FREE formula preserves and protects the GKhair Oil Hair Color and the GKhair light tame, Light Wave, Medium Tame-Curly and Full Tame-Resistant formulas.
HOW TO USE IT:
Step 1: Apply to wet hair.
Step 2: Massage and create a slight lather.
Step 3: Rinse and follow with GK Balancing Conditioner.
GKhair is the first and only company to harness the beauty benefits of Juvexin. Juvexin is a special blend of proteins and peptides optimized specifically for hair.
Juvexin has been developed specifically to protect and restore the hair back to its youthful state and is used in all GKhair products worldwide.

Juvexin then penetrates throughout the hair shaft delivering important conditioning and moisturizing benefits. This improves the softness and reduces friction enabling hair to better withstand heat, helps make hair less prone to breakage and improves the lubricity of hair, giving hair overall better manageability. On both wet and dry hair there is less entanglement during brushing, making the hair less prone to breakage and improving manageability.
This all sounds really nice and I honestly am very curious how my hair will feel once dry.
I feel like this shampoo needs a couple of uses to show it’s full effect, my hair is very soft and feels very nice, but I haven’t noticed a difference in frizz or texture. I will keep using it and will come back to this post when the bottle is empty.
