Loyle Carner – ‘A Little Late’ EP

Just before we went away on holiday Loyle Carner announced the long awaited release date of his debut EP and it gives us great pleasure to have it as our first feature back. This EP has been in the making for a good while now and all we can say is how completely worth the wait it was. Every moment of this EP is effortlessly good, Loyle’s incredibly relaxed and sincere flow mixed with Rebel Kleff‘s outstanding J Dilla-esque production makes for a captivating and throughly enjoyable listen. From the moment at the end of ‘BFG’ where it almost sounds as if Loyle is about to break down, to the stripped back to and fro freestyle skit part of ‘The Money’, there is a constantly shifting wave of emotion which is rare to find in any release, let alone a debut EP. Loyle’s ability to write is second to none and this EP speaks for itself. Very much looking forward to seeing what the next year brings for these two young guns coming out of South London. ‘A Little Late’ is up for free download over at Loyle’s soundcloud here.
