FREE Pattern: Baker Street Bag

This FREE bag pattern was written for Olfa’s website, and you can see the pattern for the Baker Street Bag right here on the Olfa blog, and you can also find it as a free pdf download on Craftsy. It features 11 pages of sewing instructions, and 26 full-color step-by-step photos.

The Baker Street Bag only features one pattern piece (the rest are rectangular cuts), so only one page of templates to print (and no taping together!). The supplies are also minimal:

  • 3/4 yard of exterior fabric
  • 3/4 yard of lining fabric
  • 1/2 yard of By Annie’s Soft and Stable (Soft and Stable is a 1/8” thick, foam sew-in interfacing; one of my testers also recommends automotive headliner fabric in place of the Soft and Stable; you can also substitute a needled fleece fusible interfacing for the Soft and Stable, such as Pellon #TP971F Thermolam Plus fusible interfacing)
  • 2-1/2 yards of Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex fusible woven interfacing (or medium-weight fusible interfacing)
  • 12” zipper

The finished size of the bag is 12” long x 8” tall x 4” deep.

When making this bag, you’ll assemble the top closure with a recessed zipper (although feel free to swap out for a magnetic snap closure if you prefer!).

There are also some quick and easy topstitched pockets in the lining of the bag:

I hope you like the bag! I made mine with new Cotton Steel fabrics by Melody Miller, and used 40wt Aurifil thread to make the bag.
