Apple Lime Punch

One of the family favorites of the holiday season is punch. We love punches! Through the holidays, we look forward to making as many varieties as we can manage. I am always looking for new recipes to try, and, this year, I saw an apple cooler recipe that is a combination of apple and lime, which is new to us, but I thought a green punch would be nice for the season. I sweetened up the punch with lime sherbet and it's now a perfect one-two (sweet-tart) kick! (Betcha thought I was gonna say punch!)

Ingredients:
6 oz. frozen limeade or lime concentrate (We used 1/2 of 12 oz. container.)
4 cups chilled apple juice
1 to 2 green apples, cored and thinly sliced
1 to 2 limes, thinly sliced
1-liter bottle 7UP, Sprite or Mountain Dew, chilled
1 container of Lime sherbet
maraschino cherries
Note - if you want to enhance the green color, use green food coloring. The color fades as it becomes diluted as sherbet and the frozen fruit ring melts.

Directions:
1. A couple of hours before the punch is needed - using a bundt pan or jello mold, partially fill it with 7UP, apple and lime slices as well as some cherries and some cherry juice. Freeze the ring.
Once frozen we will float it in the punch bowl to keep the punch cold and it makes the punch a lot prettier too!

2. In a large punch bowl add lime concentrate, apple juice, and 7UP in directed quantities.
3. Add the lime sherbet. Stir to break it up.Taste test and adjust according to your desired sweet (sherbet) to tart (lime concentrate) flavor.

3. Add the frozen 7UP fruit ring to the punch bowl.
NOTE- we forgot the sherbet until the end and it is much harder to get it stirred in once the frozen fruit ring is in place!
