four days in helsinki. work, entrance exams and the grand opening.

helsinki in bloom.
the most hectic week in a very long time has passed. entrance exams are over, work is done and the exhibiton has officially opened. i'm very pleased with everything, and really tired. work required a lot of focus and strength, i've been photographing for the newspaper i freelance for and i've been watching over 1500 screaing kids running and cheering each other. Stafettkarnevalen is an event who occur last weekend in may every year, it's an event for kids between 7 and 16 years of age and they compete in teams against each other by running. i worked there last year aswell but only for a few hours since i was on my way to barcelona with mama later that same night.
about the entrance exams. in the beginning of april i applyed for a film and television school in helsinki, a swedish speaking one. i got accepted to the first round, wich was in wednesday the 22nd. from that minute i entered the school to the last minute i sat in an interview with teachers, i was known my the number 930e. i passed the first exams, and went on to day number two, thursday. all went well and i passed and could proceed to the final day of the entrance exams. 50 persons were excepted to the first round, only 12 of them made it to the last day.
everything went well, in my opinion, and now i'll have to wait until middle of july for the results. i'm eager. the school's one of the top film and television schools in scandinavia.
later that day, friday the 24th, i went on to work fetching a camera. i arrived at the olympia stadion at ten and then it was time to get into action. the following hours were really hectic, i didn't even get time to eat. i was done at around 7:30pm. saturday wasn't as hectic, just because i was about to leave at 3pm.
i arrived in ekenäs two and a half hours later. everything was all set, my friends and love are the best. the grand opening kicked off at 7pm and i was on fire. after beeing in a kinda stressymode since wednesday morning i had trouble to calm down. after a while when everyone showed up everything sank down, i was finished with all the important stuff and my only mission for that night was to chill down. i managed. lot's of beautiful people showed up and im so grateful for that, it was so nice. i got heaps of good compliments about the photographs, i even sold one.
we closed the venue at 10:30pm. after that we brought a bottle of red wine and walked to the harbour and sat down on a pier. we sat there for one and a half hour, just talking and drinking or wine. the sun went down behind the trees on the other side of the bay, the sky was all red. we walked home in the middle of the light night, how i've missed walking home on summernights. i love nordic summernights, i love the fact that it doesn't get entirely dark until the end of august.
happy summer to all of you peeps.
PS. few of my friends and their dad gave me the best gift ever. an old minolta camera with heaps of good lenses, how sweet isn't that? i'll show you one day. so now i got two new cameras, a nikon f4 and a minolta srt 100b. i'm such a lucky girl and i'm really extatic about the new cameras, can't wait to get film and start shooting.
