A Kindergarten Smorgasboard SmartBoard Stage!

Happy back to school day everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic day back!!! I am so ready to see the 'staches tomorrow!
Last week we did our first ever
LIVE Submissions For Smorgie YouTube event. (If you missed it... LAME!...but you can still watch all 90 minutes of it on my YouTube channel!) A frequent question during that event and at conferences and on social media...is all about the STAGE in my classroom.
Yes, people. We have a stage. Would you expect anything less?! Yes I dance on the stage. Yes I perform on the stage. Yes I even nap on the stage. And yes, the 'staches love the stage.
So, why a stage!? Well...what happened was...the installers of our Promothean boards didn't listen when I said our board needed to be low. So...the 'staches couldn't reach most of the board.
Enter my daddy. He might be a little bitty man (no, really, he's tiny. About 5'5") but he sure is handy!!!

THE STAGE!
I love that it is the entire length of the Promothean board so the 'staches can walk back and forth. It's also wide enough for them to move safely and easily.
This stage cost about $80 to build.

During the building process (which meant I used power tools...Yes...me..power tools. And I still have all 10 fingers... GO ME!) I decided to make the top a lid. People, that thing is full of goodies. It's a ton of storage for all of those things you very rarely use. Now they're not cluttering up the room. BAM!

Here's a side view. I painted the steps black and added carpet to the top to quiet the noise.

So to build the stage we used press board (I think...ask your husband/dad/boyfriend) and these boards. I measured them and they are 1 1/2" by 1 1/2". They give the stage the support and stability. So, here are the exact measurements of my stage since so many of you have asked for them!

And that folks, is my stage!!!
