Disney’s ‘Cinderella’ Movie Review (Free Activity Sheets)

Julia, 14, was my date to see a sneak preview of Disney’s Cinderella. I love the classical, beautiful retelling of this fairy-tale. You will see nothing forced or over embellished. You will see a perfect live action retelling of one of our childhood favorites. Branagh, the film’s director, wanted to do something where “kindness was a superpower”.

One of my favorite parts of it being a live action film was the excitement that builds as the last strike of midnight approaches. You actually feel like the pumpkin carriage is going to careen off the screen and throw Cinderella onto the road. For a moment, you believe that the horses really did turn back into mice.

I love that Disney sees the modern audience as an audience that craves kindness, compassion, and beauty. I think that speaks well for our society, don’t you?!

Now for the important questions: Would I take the other kids to see it?

Yes!

Julia (14) loved it! She already wants to go back with friends to see it.

Nate (11) would really enjoy it. He may tell you that a princess story is not for him, but I think he would like the horses, castles, and chivalry.

I would have no problem with Riley (4) seeing the movie, although I don’t think he would sit still through the story.
