Great Plates of Late Around South Baltimore

Let’s take a look at some of the dishes I’ve had recently in South Baltimore that really stood out. And, please don’t hesitate to share some of your favorites in the comments section!

Chicken Pot Pie at SoBo Café

SoBo Café makes all its food from scratch and has a reputation of serving some great comfort food. I recently went there with a party of six and got a taste of several really amazing dishes and appetizers.

I personally ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and boy was it good. It was made up of a fluffy crust pastry atop fresh and tasty chicken and vegetables. I offered to share some of it, but was hoping I’d get to eat just about all of it myself.

Baltimore’s Best Buffalo Chicken Sandwich at Mother’s Grille

In Baltimore you can have a really long conversation about which restaurant has the best wings (Mother’s even hosts a yearly contest to help settle that argument), but sometimes you just have to switch it up a bit and get a buffalo chicken sandwich. I’ve always loved Mother’s garlic buffalo sauce so I figured I’d try it in between too buns… wow! The sandwich included perfectly fried chicken, topped with Mother’s signature sauce, cheddar cheese, and bacon on a brioche roll. I know what I’m getting next time!

Bavette Steak at Wine Market

You can’t beat having great steak sometimes and I certainly don’t believe you have to spend $50 to make that happen. I recently had the Bavette Steak at Wine Market and this was one of the best I’ve had in a while. It was tender, well spiced, and full of flavor and about half the price of one of the cuts you can get at a premier steakhouse.

Rhino Chaser Fries at Shotti’s Point

Shotti’s Point owner Mike Shott brings a little bit of his other hometown of Ocean City to his bar in Riverside, so it just seems natural to start off your meal with his take on boardwalk fries when you are there. While the fries that come with the sandwiches are delicious and do the shore proud, the Rhino Chaser Fries take it to another level. A big basket of hand-cut fries tossed with rosemary, thyme, sea salt, garlic, parmesan, a drizzle of balsamic glaze with a white truffle aioli. These are so good and it comes with plenty to share!
