Dior Versailles Look

Oh Dior, what have you done to me? Lately I’ve been obsessing over their new eyeshadow palettes and I just can’t stop playing with them. Today I want to show you one in particular, Versailles, and an effortless look I created with it.

But first I’d like to mention another one of their products first. Now I’m not a fan of high-end lip balms at all. I just can’t see the point of spending a lot of money on a lip balm. BUT. Dior has one big perk in comparison to everything else I’ve tried so far: pigmentation. My god, the pigmentation on the Rouge Dior Baume lip balms is amazing. I’ve seen lipsticks with less color pay-off. The colour shown and worn below is called ‘688 Diorette‘, a bright fuchsia pink. Not a colour I usually go for, but I must admit it looks great on cool skin tones. Plus, it manages to keep the lips moist, as you’d expect from a good lip balm. So if you’re looking for something pigmented, moisturizing and got some extra to spend, Rouge Dior Baume comes in 14 different shades, so surely there’s something in there you’ll like.

Now onto the main subject of today’s blogpost: the Dior 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette in Versailles, a gorgeous every day neutral palette you can also use for more festive sparkly looks. I’ve already discussed it and swatched it here. Today I’ll be showing you how you can use it for an everyday look. Sorry for the extreme close-ups tho, didn’t mean to scare ya! But the thing is it’s the only way to be able to show you how the colours look in more detail with the current (lack of) light so here goes..

The general idea of the 5 couleurs palettes is to either use the top 3 or bottom 3 colours, but I just felt like throwing them all on there for the heck of it. I started by putting the upper left colour (a shimmery rose) all over the lid and slightly underneath the outer corner of the lower lash line. Then, I highlighted the area under my brows and the inner corners of my eyes with the shimmery yellow colour (upper right). To make it extra sparkly, I added some of the center gold glitter shade in the inner corners of my eye (not that visible in the pics).

After that it was time to add the darkest colour, a plum brown (lower right corner) on the outer corner of my lid, the crease and in the outer corner of the lower lash line and I blended it all out. Lastly, I used the silver glittery shade (lower left corner) to add a bit of highlight in the lower center of the lid. I finished off with some liquid liner, mascara and false lengthening lashes.
