Cool Kids Clothing (aka Where The Cool Mums Shop)

Whilst my own wardrobe planning is currently in flux due to my ever increasing shape, it turns out that shopping for baby clothes can be a lot more fun than designing your own spring summer closet. Whilst it remains to be seen whether baby styleonthecouch will love monochrome as much as I do, hate pink as much as I do, and want to borrow my leather harnesses (hmm) right now I have the opportunity to dress her with love and care and hope that we have lots of fun along the way.

Here are three amazing childrenswear brands I have discovered recently that I am excited to share with you.

****

Kindred Oak: Designer Paige Smith wanted Kindred Oak to be a place for one of a kind items for hip mommas and their babies. With a philosophy of ‘it’s not just about what you’re wearing, it’s about how you feel when you’re wearing it’, Smith brings us a collection of fun and contemporary fashion for babies and children, with the added extra that Mum’s can purchase their own adult-sized versions of kids favorites such as the Marlow Slouch Pant. The hair accessories are a particularly cute addition to the collection, and the boho-chic fringe cuffs are the perfect pairing with leggings and bare feet. Shop online HERE.

Motoreta: Motoreta is a young brand of kidswear from the south of Spain, Seville, a magical place with unique identity and tradition. Lead by Cristina Lopez-Lago and Maria Llerena, both architect partners for years and closely linked to the world of art and design, they embarked on their creative project, Motoreta, following the design concepts they developed in their office for years but, this time, applied to the evocative world of childhood. This is the background of all the brand’s collections and the pillars of Motoreta’s designs remain simple but sophisticated, with plain colours and clean shapes.

This small-scale brand producing sustainable clothing, choosing quality raw materials and enhancing the local industry is supported by a global distribution and is developing a strong international presence. An example of how a local manufacturing can go together with a global thinking, design and best quality, there are lots of very beautiful, unique and comfortable styles at Motoreta.

Oeuf NYC: Stocked at Liberty London, Oeuf NYC is a playful, practical and stylish brand with a focus on simple, clean and intuitive design – both kidswear as well furniture and bedding. From the beginning, Oeuf has believed in designing products that offer real value to consumers without ever compromising on quality, of the highest order. From making a conscious choice to manufacture in Europe versus China; from offering their clients furniture that is not only high quality but also multifunctional: a crib turns into a toddler bed, prolonging its usefulness far beyond the infant years; to always being mindful of its impact on the environment and the communities it serves. This is Oeuf.

From Oeuf’s inception, founders Sophie and Michael were motivated by a desire to reduce unnecessary purchases and offer solutions to parents that made sense with the demands of a modern lifestyle. From an alpaca mitten to its Classic Crib, every inch of Oeuf’s design is thoughtful and focused on three key principals: quality, practicality and function – all packaged in beautiful design. It’s about a few essential, high quality and multifunctional pieces that resonate with today’s cash strapped consumers – their clothing for children is out of this world fun, thoughtful and fashionable (check out their ‘girls are strong‘ and ‘boys are sensitive‘ tees) and don’t get me started on my love of their designs with ears as I may just melt. Their knit accessories; coffee cup and hot dog are uber cool.

So there you have it, cool kids clothing, aka where the cool mums shop!
