Crista’s Review
4.5 stars! This book blew me away!

I have been a follower of this series from the beginning, and I am amazed at how much this author has grown in her writing throughout these books. Ms. Kristen Callihan has more world-building ability along with creative and imaginative writing power than many authors writing today. She has had my undying support, and with this book she continues to have it.

I have read some reviews where people have mentioned that this could be read as a stand-alone. In my opinion, reading this without knowledge of the previous books would be difficult. There are so many layers to these books, and the world building is unique and involved. In fact, I found myself wanting to go back and review the previous books just to remember how everything left off.
Soulbound was a book that I wasn’t exactly excited about reading. Adam was always an enigmatic and reclusive character whom I was never exactly sure about. When he meets Eliza May and recognizes her as his soul mate, he reacts without thinking, and literally binds her to him with a gold chain. Maybe it’s because he is the king of the GIM (Ghosts in the Machine), that he doesn’t realize that chaining your soul mate to you, (against her will), is not a great way to start out a relationship!!!

Eliza finds a way to escape her captivity with Adam and next finds herself living with her grandmother Mab (a Fae Queen). Unbeknownst to Eliza, Mab is not all that she pretends to be and Eliza slowly begins to realize that being chained to Adam wasn’t the worst place to be!!

I love how this author doesn’t cut corners around Adam and Eliza’s history. There is trust that needs to be built and restored, and this author takes her time to make sure that this relationship takes its time to mature. Adam and Eliza must join forces to defeat the horrible curse that plagues Adam, and the evil forces that threaten them both.

This series is a little bit historical, a little bit paranormal, a little bit steampunk, and a LOT of romance. It is a hybrid and a series that is truly unique in itself. Although I didn’t love this book as much as Evernight (which is my favorite book of the series), it comes really close.

If you haven’t given this series a try, I would highly recommend that you do.
