Big News for Tales of a Homeschool Family Blog!

Almost 2 years ago, I laid down the crazy lifestyle of Homeschool Circus and moved to this present domain. Along with that move, I stopped doing an abundance of reviews.

Eventhough I didn’t want to continue with a heavy focus on reviews, I did like the number of visitors to my blog. My desire and effort was to keep writing and growing with a light sprinkling of reviews.

Here’s what I learned about the homeschool blogging world!

The homeschool blogging community is definitely different now verses when I first started. It’s very competitive with “everybody” writing about everything….everyday!

Many successful homeschool bloggers offer downloads and printables to their visitors. I think that’s great – if you’ve got something that someone wants…but, honestly, I couldn’t see myself offering another piece of paper as a gift.

As someone who deals DAILY with an overabundance of paper, I care for my readers too much to add to their paper burden. (However, if you must have another piece of paper to add to your collection, I will gladly give up some of mine!)

In trying to model Tales of a Homeschool Family after bigger and more successful blogs, I patterned my habits after what worked for them. I pinned, I posted, I tweeted, I shared, I courted companies for advertising.

In the end my efforts amounted to unfulfilled revenue promises, an overload of stress and feeling like I was totally missing the boat.

Taking some time away during a mini-Guest Post series, I finally came up with the answer. It was the realization that if I was going to continue blogging, I was going to do what I love and feel most comfortable doing.

With that revelation, I knew I had to work within my strengths. And that comes down to doing reviews. I love reviewing curricula, period!

So, after more than 2 years I am excited to announce that I am returning as a member of The Old Schoolhouse Review Crew!

Stay tuned for upcoming reviews – it’s going to be a GREAT ride! And, THAT I can guarantee!
