#BlankandBow – Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story

Something I have been thinking about lately is why today’s society expects us to conform to cultural expectations and standards. We are designed to go to school, get a job, get married, have kids, retire and then ultimately pass on. What people, including myself often, doesn’t stop and think that hey we are all individuals. We may all be created with bones, blood and muscles but each and every one of us has our own unique DNA. We have our own unique thoughts and feelings. Too often we just accept our fate of what society says we are suppose to do instead of celebrating the glorious people that we are. The fact is you will never experience authentic joy unless you discover your true self. Find out what makes you happy and do it.

I viewed a short film this weekend that I really and truly enjoyed. This film Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story by Disney hit on all of these great points about being true to yourself. Society, the cranes, pushes you to stay on track. They don’t want you to make any changes because this is the way that everyone says it is suppose to be. Well essentially it is not the way any of them truly want to be, not even the cranes themselves. If you are asking “Who are the cranes?” well then you should definitely go check out the film. This fantastic short film touches on the fact that you have to learn to love who you are before others will love you for being you. There will be people who are there to support the true you. People who will trudge over the river and through the woods to be there for you. People who will fight for you. I love Walt Disney’s quote, “The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique.” It is so true!

Disney Interactive and Google have teamed up to launch this short film “Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story” based on the popular Disney Parks Vinylmation collectibles. “Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story” is a 38 minute stop-motion animated film that tells the story of Blank. Blank is an unpainted Vinylmation character. He goes on an adventure of finding his lost soul mate but ultimately finding himself.

Despite this short film having no words my 6 year old daughter sat through and watched the whole thing. The storyline speaks on values even the youngest kids can understand love, friendship, adventure and never giving up. It is one that you don’t want to miss.

You can download this short animated film for free exclusively on Google Play. Google is also inviting you to share frames from the film with family and friends as digital greeting cards. How fun is that? You will then be able to unlock a second film called “Cranes of Love.”
