Our 2015 Goals!

We saw this cute New Years Questionnaire on Lauren Conrad’s website and thought it was perfect! This time of year it’s so easy to get overwhelmed with this long list of “resolutions” but we thought this was a fun, light way to come up with some ideas and attainable goals for the upcoming year! We love reflecting back on what worked the previous year and what was missing and this totally helped us narrow in on some ideas and made us super excited for 2015!Want to play along? If you have a New Year’s goals/resolution/anti-resolution (haha) post on your blog please link it in the comments below! We would love to check it out! If you don’t, feel free to copy and paste these questions and fill in your own answers!

Natalie:

A bad habit I’m going to break: buying too much Starbucks.

A destination I’d like to visit: Ah I want to travel the world you guys. Let’s say Nashville. My husband is a Predetors fan and we’ve talked about possibly taking an anniversary trip down that way. The question is…do we take the boys or go without them.

I’m going to work harder at: Being organized and minimal! Already been tackling closets and getting rid of so much this week and it feels so darn good.

A project I’d like to finish: Re-doing our basement. We have started and I am so excited!!

A class I’d like to take: Sewing! I’ve picked up knitting again this past fall but I’d love to be able to actually follow patterns and sew things for the boys.

I’d like to spend more time doing: Building community. So inspired by the girls over at Common Table blog.

A food I want to eat more of: Veggies for sure. I eat a lot of fruit but not as many veggies as I need for sure. Also water. I need to drink more water.

I want to wear more: Jewelry. I kind of stopped wearing any at all since the boys were born. When I have limited time to get dressed, it’s just one more thing that takes time to put on but also they were always trying to grab at it.

Books I’d Like To Read in 2015: I wish I had more time to read so I’m going to start slow with only a few. Gone Girl and Hands Free Mama have been at the top of my reading list lately.

Britt:

A bad habit I’d like to break: Worrying. Full disclosure, when I asked my husband about this one he instantly said “Leaving the lights on when you leave a room!” soooo I guess I should work on that one too haha

Destination I’d like to visit: My husband and I would love to take a baby moon before baby #2. We are thinking a cruise but we don’t know where yet. Somewhere hot. We would also love to go to New York City this year!

I’m going to work harder at: Pursuing meaningful friendships & making time for relationships and community in my life. This is one of those things that gets super challenging after you have a baby but I really want to keep it a priority. This goal includes my marriage too. It’s so tough trying to find a balance after becoming a mom but this year I plan on focusing on more balance in this area and making more time for our marriage/date nights and not letting stress/exhaustion take over. Gotta get this habit in place before baby #2 takes over.

A project id like to finish: Our home renos/decorating. For for first 4 years of our marriage zach and I were working our tails off to get completely out of debt (woo!) and to save a good chunk of money for an emergency fund (this is what happens when you’re married to an accountant.). We have finally finished those two steps and are now able to SPEND some money! Yay! We need to do a nursery for the new baby, toddler room for Dex, our bedroom, main bathroom and basement!

A class I’d like to take: Calligraphy or a Photoshop course for blogging.

I’d like to spend more time: With God, reading my bible and studying his word. So hard to find the time and looking back at this year I was a total failure in this area. I use the excuse of having a toddler but the truth is when I get free time, I almost always choose other things over this. Not this year though. Thank goodness for grace! I’m really excited about the 365 day reading plan that She Reads Truth is starting tomorrow!

I’d like to eat more: Whole foods, balanced/homemade meals. I’m never going to be like a super healthy eater (I love chips too much) but focusing more on taking the time to make our meals is something I would like to prioritize.

I’d like to wear more: More colour, pattern and layers. I’m totally an all black/neutral girl and wearing colour is totally out of my zone but I love it on other people!

Books I want to read in 2015: Make It Happen – Lara Casey, Hands Free Mama, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me – Mindy Kaling, The Honest Life – Jessica Alba, and the other two books (not Gone Girl – just read it and it was amazing!) by Gillian Flynn. The probability of me finishing all these books with a newborn and a two year old – SUPER SLIM, but a girl can dream!

Thanks for reading and Happy New Year!!

Natalie and Britt
