CAMPING IN EUROPE: TOP 7 COUNTRIES

When I was I kid I didn’t do anything but camping. It was the easiest option: within 11 hours of driving we went to Italy, within 7 hours we went to the Czech Republic, within 6 hours we were in France and within 10 hours we were in Spain. I’ve seen a lot of campings, and now I’m older I kind of miss it – even though I hated it while I was a child: fancy hotels seem so much nicer when you are young. Now I’d like to go camping again: sitting in the middle of nature, driving to cool locations all around the country and playing games, swimming and meeting other campers. So, while getting nostalgic I’d thought I could easily share an article about the top seven countries in Europe for camping with you!

1. Italy

Italy is one of Europe’s most diverse countries: cute towns, big towns, romantic seaside towns, vineyards, mountains, beaches, and a lot of must-see places and monuments. Italy is a country you can’t just visit once, but camping makes visiting it a lot easier.. why? Camping makes it possible to organise a cheap road trip, from camping to camping. Another plus about Italy? The weather is always nice!

2. Schotland

I admit: the weather in Schotland isn’t always the best, so camping should be planned in the right months of the year. So why is it that Schotland is number two of this list? Schotland is one of the few countries in Europe that allows you to go wild camping. Which means that your camping experience will be amazing AND you’ll be in the middle of the most magnificent nature you’ll ever come across! Definitely an experience for the bucket list!

3. France

France is one of the biggest countries of Europe, one of the prettiest countries and one of those countries where you’ll never be able to get bored. France knows two types of campings: touristic and big with a lot of amusement, pools and games to play and the campings that will get you as close to nature as you can be.

4. Croatia

While Croatia is still one of the lesser known countries of Europe it is getting bigger and bigger among tourists and campers. Not surprised though: Croatia is a beautiful country and small enough to allow you to road trip through several European countries. While in Europe: Croatia is a must-see!

5. Portugal

Portugal is a country that needs to be on your bucketlist for several reasons, like the beaches, Porto and Lissabon, the people and the food. So why not camp in Portugal? Camping mostly means you’ll have a car – if not a bike or scooter – and those forms of transportation will already get you far in Portugal as it is a relatively small country.

6. Spain

Spain is one of the most touristic destinations for campers as it is pretty centrally located in Western-Europe. However, the location isn’t the only reason it’s so touristic: no matter where you are in Spain, you’ll always have a huge city close to you.. such as Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Sevilla or Madrid. Also, Spain has the most amazing nature, and you’ll not get bored once you’ve discovered the mountains, the lakes, the beaches and the woods.

7. Czech Republic

The campings in the Czech Republic are either very touristic or very ‘Czech’ – for the local experience you should definitely choose the second option. Czech Republic is a country with a ton of cities you must visit as well as it is filled with small, cute and pretty towns that are worth your time. Also, Czech Republic has great nature areas that need to be explored!
