DIY Leather Studded Clutch Bag

Hiya! We've put together this little DIY for you all to have a go at. It is surprisingly easy and looks really professional, I, personally, am chuffed with the way it has turned out. Obviously, you can use whatever colour fabric and leather you want. I got all of my material from my local market and it only cost me £5 (and I didn't even use it all!). One thing I would mention, is that after making the bag, we realised that it was a little floppy because our leather wasn't hugely stiff. If you have the same problem with yours, just cut the back off a cereal box, cover it with your lining material and pop in the back of you bag. That will give it a little extra support if it's needed.

Cream leather paper pen pins scissors Lining material (we chose tartan) Studs Magnetic clip fastenings Sewing machine Fabric glue

Step 1: Draw out your template for your clutch bag onto paper. Ours measured 20cm x 50cm with one scalloped edge. It needs to be long enough to be folded into three. Pin the template onto the leather and cut out.
Step 2: Measure out your lining in your tartan material. It need to be just shorter than the template (ending about 3cm away from the scalloped edge). Pin in your hems and sew on a sewing machine.
Step 3: Insert your magnetic clips. One needs to go into your tartan lining, and the other into the leather, so when the bag is folded into thirds, it clips together.
Step 4: Glue your hemmed lining onto the inside of your leather and leave to dry over night.
Step 5: Add on your studs.
Step 6: Fold up your bag, putting the bottom third into the middle. Make sure your magnetic clips line up, and then sew down each side. Obviously, don't sew the flap onto the pocket, otherwise you won't be able to open the bag.

So, what do you think? I've been using my bag a lot, so we really hope you give this DIY a go and love it as much as I do! Love Kendall xox
